Come and learn from art activists about how to make creative and effective art installations and action props that can be used as we confront corporations who profit from suppression. Hewlett Packard is developing and supporting a biometric ID system installed in Israeli checkpoints in the Occupied West Bank which categorizes citizens by their ethnic background. In the United States, HP is profiting from work with the US prison system and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through a contract with the US Department of Homeland Security ICE Law Enforcement Support Center (LESC) to speed up the internal process of deciding a person's documentation status.

kite makers that will touch audiences through their humor and playful
spirit. The film seeks to humanize the conflict
through a touching cinematic rendering of the fascinating kite culture
among children as a form of creative resistance in Gaza.

The Estria Foundation will be partnering with Friends of Sabeel North America, and ArtForces on a new collaborative mural project highlighting the Palestinian water crisis and international responses of solidarity on a large public wall in Uptown Oakland. The mural will focus on water as the uniting theme across the mural and create a space for local community and artists to collaborate with a visiting artist from Palestine. We hope to develop imagery that will make these issues visible to the public of Oakland, and by ways of the internet, to the world.

Resurfacing Exhibition Closing Event: Mourning and Action: Bourj El Shamali Refugee Camp, in Lebanon, Art Forces Presentation. Wednesday, February 19 / 6:00 - 9:00 pm / Gallery/ Donation
The MAIA Mural Brigade (MAIA means water in Arabic) investigates global environmental systems. The fulcrum of the project is the water crisis in Gaza, Palestine. In the fall of 2013, Art Forces collaborated once again with Al-Jana Center for Popular Arts to work with community of Bourj El Shamali to paint a community mural at the site of a massacre that took place in 1982. Israeli phosphorous bombs were dropped on a shelter killing 96 women, elders and children. Surviving family members wrote the names of their dead on the oranges.

In the name of environmentalism, the Jewish
National Fund (JNF) plants trees and builds parks on Palestinian land.
Over the past 113 years, the strategies of the JNF to acquire land in
historic Palestine have changed, but its goals
remain the same. This short film chronicles stories of Nakba survivors,
interviews with their descendants about the case of refugee return, and
current and growing resistance to the ongoing colonization of Palestine
by the Jewish National Fund.
